The 1982 Topps football set features 528 standard-size cards and marked a breakthrough of sorts. Licensed by NFL Properties for the first time, Topps was able to use team logos within its photos. Previously, logos on helmets were airbrushed. Card fronts contained a team helmet at bottom left and the player's name and position within a color banner at bottom right. Horizontally designed backs featured yearly statistics and highlights. Subsets include Record Breakers (1-6), playoffs (7-9), league leaders (257-262) and brothers (263-270). In-Action (IA) cards of top players are scattered throughout the set. Team Leader (TL) cards feature statistical leaders on the front as well as a team checklist on the back. The set is organized in team order alphabetically by team within conference (and with players within teams in alphabetical order). Rookie Cards include James Brooks, Cris Collinsworth, Drew Hill, Ronnie Lott, Freeman McNeil, Anthony Munoz and Lawrence Taylor.
