1997/98 Donruss Preferred Hockey Hobby Box

24 packs per box, 5 cards per pack
The 1997/98 Donruss Preferred set was issued in one series totaling 200 cards. The set featured color player photos on an all micro-etched foil board card with bronze, silver, gold, and platinum finishes.
Numbered inserts including Line of the Times and Color Guard are also here, plus one of the rarest insert sets ever, Precious Metals - where each card contains 1 gram of a precious metal (platinum or gold)

Cut to the Chase
Inserts:
- Preferred Cut to the Chase:color>Randomly inserted in packs, this 200 card set was a parallel version of the base set. Each card featured a background of gold, silver, or platinum.
- Preferred Color Guard:color>Randomly inserted in packs, this 18 card set featured color images of top netminders printed on die-cut plastic cards with the player's team colors in the background. The set was sequentially numbered to 1500.
- Preferred Line of the Times:color>Randomly inserted in packs, this 24-card set featured color photos of star players printed on die-cut cards and utilizing micro-etching technology. Three cards were made to be placed sise by side to form one interactive card which spelled out a particular word in the background. The set was sequentially numbered to 2500.
- Preferred Precious Metals:color>Randomly inserted in packs, this 15 card set was a partial parallel version of the base set. The cards were printed on card stock consisting of 1 gram of real gold or platinum.. Only 100 of each card was produced.
