Every Top 10 NFL Draft Pick’s Most Expensive Card Sold

More than a month has passed since the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft, and the offseason is in full swing. By that, I mean videos from training camps and offseason workouts that have fans of all 32 teams convinced they drafted at least one future Hall of Famer in April of this year. The hype is certainly real for rookies around the NFL, especially for the five quarterbacks and three receivers taken in the top 10 (don’t worry, I’ll show the tackles some love, too). Let’s look at how this excitement has translated into the hobby for the players selected with the first ten picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

1.) Caleb Williams – Chicago Bears

Dubbed the most complete prospect we’ve seen since Trevor Lawrence, USC signal caller Caleb Williams is ready to bear the weight of the Windy City. And with all that Ryan Poles has done this offseason – trading for Keenan Allen, signing D’Andre Swift, drafting Rome Odunze – Bears fans’ expectations are sky-high. He can make any throw you ask, maneuver the pocket, and throw off-platform. He’s next up.

2.) Jayden Daniels – Washington Commanders

Jayden Daniels is the most electrifying dual-threat Quarterback in this class. And his arm talent is seemingly slept on. His accuracy is solid in the pocket, and on the run, it’s truly something to behold. I feel like I lost count of the plays where he was forced out to his right and dropped the football into a bucket. Now, when dropped into an offense with Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Brian Robinson Jr., there’s certainly a lot of speed for defenses to account for when facing the Commanders. I’m fascinated to see what he looks like in a Kliff Kingsbury offense.

3.) Drake Maye – New England Patriots

My odd (but accurate) comp for the successor to Mac Jones is if Gardner Minshew and Josh Allen had a baby. The perfect amount of “eff it – we ball” mixed with raw athleticism. But he’s exactly that – raw. He’s the one quarterback in this draft who was widely seen as a prospect who may need to sit for a year despite his no-look passes at Patriots Training Camp. But his ceiling is arguably as high as anyone else in the class. Are Jerod Mayo and the Patriots the right staff to help him develop? Only time will tell.

4.) Marvin Harrison Jr – Arizona Cardinals

Marvin Harrison Jr. landed in one of the best spots he could have without a team trading up. He’s now partnered with an established Quarterback in Kyler Murray, Mr. Reliable (aka James Conner), a sophomore breakout candidate in Michael Wilson, and young up-and-coming tight end Trey McBride (who is HIM). This offense can potentially be one of the hottest in the NFL. If that’s the case, even in a year in which we saw six quarterbacks get drafted in the first round, we could be talking about Mavin Harrison Jr as Offensive Rookie of the Year.

5.) Joe Alt – Los Angeles Chargers

Calling this the first “surprise” of the draft might be hyperbolic, but just about every mock draft I read (and I read an unhealthy amount of them) had Joe Alt going to the Tennessee Titans. However, Jim Harbaugh got himself an offensive “weapon” and made it clear that protecting Justin Herbert and winning at the line of scrimmage is his biggest priority.

6.) Malik Nabers – New York Giants

In a hilarious turn of events, Malik Nabers is a Giant. And if you’re unsure why this is hilarious, watch this video of him being asked if he could play with “the QB for the Giants” – also referred to as “what’s his face.” The man ENDED THE STREAM instead of talking about what it might look like playing with Danny Dimes. He’s also the millionth slot receiver the Giants have added in the last five years (factual). But he’s the first one they’ve brought into their locker room with genuine game-breaking talent.

7.) JC Latham – Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans were in the top ten for a reason. And that reason is that they’re not very good at football. Will Levis had one good game in 2023, and for him to have at least two this year, the Titans’ brass needed to get him someone who wouldn’t be a bottom-one offensive tackle in the NFL. And they’ve seemingly done that!

8.) Michael Penix Jr – Atlanta Falcons

So… we’re all still confused about this, right? Was the Michael Penix Jr. pick a result of Jordan Love’s success – maybe even Aaron Rodgers? Is this a new model to build your football team that’ll leave Falcons GM Terry Fontenot saying, “I told you so”? I love Penix, but I don’t think so. Fontenot justified this pick by saying the Falcons “won’t be picking this high again any time soon.” He better hope he’s right.

9.) Rome Odunze – Chicago Bears

The Bears knocked this first round out of the park. Granted, both Williams and Odunze fell into their lap, but they still made the selections, and that deserves some credit. Odunze joins a receiver room with DJ Moore and Keenan Allen – two of the more notable receivers of my generation. His talent alone had him poised for a great career. Now he joins an offense that could go all season without a single wideout going back-to-back weeks as their top receiver. The NFC North looks like it could be the best in football, and Odunze will be a big reason for that.

10.) J.J. McCarthy – Minnesota Vikings

I made two predictions about the 2024 NFL Draft back in January:

  1. 1. John Elway wouldn’t allow the Denver Broncos to leave Thursday evening without Bo Nix as their future quarterback.
  2. 2. J.J. McCarthy was going to win the National Championship and fool some sad sap GM into trading up for him in the 1st round.

And even though the tone of my second prediction shows my opinion on McCarthy, I don’t hate the landing spot for the former Michigan Wolverine. He wasn’t asked to do much under Jim Harbaugh, and all reports say that the Vikings are thrilled with him after the little offseason practice they’ve had.
