Pennsylvania musician, teacher and card collector, Van Wagner, sent us this link of a song he recorded about a person that started collecting baseball cards as a boy in the 1950s. The subject or main character of the song started his collection with a 1952 Red Man Tobacco Duke Snider card. There’s also a reference to the subject’s preference of 1955 Topps Baseball (and the Sandy Koufax rookie) over the iconic 1952 baseball set. The song’s final verse talks about how the subject is now older and is passing his love of collecting on to his grandchildren. The accompanying video depicts the events mentioned in the song’s lyrics. The song and video are a nice tribute to the hobby and what we love about collecting.
