It’s been a pretty crazy couple weeks for our breakers. On May 23rd, Troy was on Fanatics Live just minding his business opening some of the new Select Basketball. And then out of nowhere, he noticed a Snake Skin lurking in the back of a pack. Not only was it a Snake Skin.. it was a black version of it. A one of one. A one of one of one of the best two players to ever step on a basketball court – Lebron James.
This was a break for Fanatics-regular Sean, who immediately shipped the card off to SGC where it was graded a Gem Mint 10. Congrats to Sean on the hit of a lifetime!
Another all-time hit came in 2Bros1Break yesterday. Resident sicko PeteFin ordered himself a case of 2023/24 Black Diamond Hockey, and got himself one of the best cards in the entire product – a Connor Bedard 1/1 NHL Shield.
Our guest on the 302nd episode of The Chase was Haley Kobak, the woman behind Slab Mania, who seamlessly fit into the chaos that we have going on here. She told us about her first experience in The Hobby, and how it hooked her for life:
Haley’s earliest memory of collecting came when she was 8 years old. She and her dad walked into a local card store where the owner was ripping packs with a customer, who decided to gift young Haley all of his base cards. This small act of kindness got her into The Hobby for life. And she paid it forward when one of her Instagram followers reached out, expressing that his daughter is now into cards because of Haley. She then hooked this young collector up with a little Hobby care package. And that’s what this community is all about.
To hear more from Haley about her journey into content creation, her plans for The National, and the latest news from around The Hobby, listen to The Chase 302 wherever you listen to your shows.
