Co-Host “The Chase”
It’s Monday and we were back with another episode of “The Chase.” Today, Alaina and I welcomed Steve Richardson from the DACW Live Lounge in to talk about some rising players in the NFL. Steve weighed in on some guys who you should look to buy and some you should look to part ways with.
Steve added that the hits keep coming in the lounge, including a Shohei Ohtani auto booklet out of two that left him “speechless.”
Steve also got to talking football and gave us some names to keep our eye on in the hobby world.
As far as a player to keep an eye on and possibly buy, Steve said New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson.
“It’s a quarterback driven hobby. So you want to look at quarterbacks that everyone is sleeping on. Zach Wilson might be someone you sneak in on. … He has some of the best weapons around him of any of the young quarterbacks,” Steve said. “The Jets have been not as bad as people thought. … Zach Wilson in there I think can really help his cause. And we’ve seen how Trevor Lawrence has shot up in year two.”
He added, coming off the injury, the Jets will hand the keys to Wilson and see what he can do the rest of the year.
As a deep sleeper, Steve mentioned Kyle Trask of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who is currently backing up Tom Brady.
“Kyle Trask has been learning behind Brady. Which is a good thing – that is a good guy to learn from. … When he leaves, it doesn’t mean Mike Evans or Chris Godwin are going anywhere. He’ll still have two very good receivers,” Steve said.
As far as a player to sell, Steve said he felt the hype around Trey Lance was a little much.
“I think he was regarded as the second best quarterback from the 2021 class in terms of hobby value behind Trevor Lawrence. And, granted, there is a lot of potential with Lance – athletic ability, he can run, he’s got a strong arm – but we just haven’t seen it yet. And now he’s going to be out for the year with an injury, that’s just another setback. … I just thought the hype got a little out of control,” he said.
When it got to talking about rookies, Steve said it’s likely time for the Steelers to begin the Kenny Pickett era, but he also said to be on the lookout for Malik Willis, who is currently backing up Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee. Willis might not become a starter this year or next, but he definitely seems to be in the Titans’ future plans.
Steve was also hyped for the 2020 quarterback class that includes Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa. Burrow and Herbert have been the hype of the draft class for the past few seasons due to their immediate impact. Meanwhile, Tagovailoa and Hurts had slow starts to their careers, but have caught fire to start this season, starting 3-0. As Burrow and Herbert continue to be the top dogs of the class, Steve said Hurts and Tua are now making it a close battle for top guy from the class.
“I am so excited for the next couple weeks to watch the prices of Jalen Hurts,” Steve said. “The Eagles, I believe, are the third shortest odds to win the Super Bowl. They’re one of three undefeated teams remaining, and Jalen Hurts has turned into everything the Eagles could’ve hoped for and more.”
He added that Hurts is even more of a problem for teams because it’s not just his running ability that can hurt a defense, but now he’s slinging it with confidence.
For more on Steve, be sure to tune in to the DACW Live Lounge on Thursdays and Fridays.
Also on “The Chase” …
Today, the crew ripped open some 2021-22 Chronicles basketball and Alaina definitely got her first win of the pack wars. The box was loaded with some Cade Cunningham rookies, but the autos were James Bouknight out of 99 and an Airborne Myles Turner. The pack also included a Cade Cunningham purple plates and patches out of 49 and a Crusade Jalen Green out of 149.
In order to win these cards, comment on the YouTube video who your favorite college basketball team is. A winner will be selected on Wednesday’s episode of “The Chase.”
