Peyton Manning announced his retirement from football on Monday, just a month removed from winning the Super Bowl for the second time in his career. Manning retires as the NFL all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 539 and passing yards with 71,940. He is also tied with Brett Favre with most career wins as a quarterback with 186.
Not only is Manning beloved by fans for his talents on the field, but his performances off the field have also elevated his status as a sports personality. Manning’s hysterical commercials for Nationwide Insurance, Direct TV and Papa John’s Pizza have become part of American pop culture, and he is also part of a select group of athletes to host Saturday Night Live.
Manning’s accomplishments have also made him popular with collectors of both trading cards and memorabilia. Manning will be one of the last NFL greats to have his rookie cards come from an era before autograph and memorabilia cards were the norm. Despite this he still has a large variety of them with the ones produced by Topps and Upper Deck most popular.
Manning continues to sign autographs for trading card companies, and the cards usually do well on the secondary market. More recently Manning has been part of some memorable dual autographs cards that appeared in 2015 Topps Definitive Collection Football. His signature was paired up with his brother Eli as well as Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. The Manning brothers were also featured on a dual autograph cards in 2015 Topps Supreme Football, one of which was pulled recently by DACW Live.
Dave & Adam’s currently has a select inventory of Peyton Manning single cards and signed memorabilia.
