Leaf Trading Cards to Sponsor Celebrity Softball Game & Sports Collectibles Show

Leaf Trading Cards recently announced that Leaf president Brian Gray will play in a celebrity softball game at the famous Dyersville, Iowa Ballpark. Leaf has also produced a 16-card celebrity set to commemorate the special event.

In conjunction with MAB Celebrity Services, Leaf Trading Cards is proud to announce that it is an official sponsor of this weekend’s “A Team of Dreams” celebrity softball game in Dyersville, Iowa, and corresponding sports collectibles show. The game itself will be held on Saturday morning, Sept. 14, at the actual ball field used in the 1989 movie Field of Dreams. The collectibles show, with its star-studded lineup of ex-big leaguers signing autographs, will by held on Saturday afternoon at the nearby Mystique Casino in Dubuque.

 

“This is a very special event that Leaf Trading Cards is proud to be a part of,” said Leaf President Brian Gray. “There is such a great lineup of former major leaguers and Hall of Famers who will be participating in it that we decided to produce a special 16-card set to commemorate the day.”

 

The players who are scheduled to play in Saturday’s game reads like a regular Who’s Who of Baseball: Johnny Bench, Wade Boggs, Rod Carew, Carlton Fisk, Doc Gooden, Rickey Henderson, Reggie Jackson, Paul Molitor, Jim Palmer, Jim Rice, Ozzie Smith, Bruce Sutter and Frank Thomas. What’s more, Leaf’s very own Brian Gray has been invited to play alongside the former major leaguers.

 

“I’m proud to be an official sponsor of the event, but I’m also very excited to be playing in the softball game,” said Gray. “It should be a lot of fun.”

 

Five-card promo packs of Leaf’s 16-card set commemorating this weekend’s festivities will be handed out free of charge to attendees of both the celebrity softball game as well as the collectibles show.
