A staple for baseball prospect collectors, 2016 Bowman Baseball, will continue to provide some of the first cards of the hottest up and coming talent. The 2016 edition adds more exciting refractor parallels to chase as well as some new insert sets. Hobby boxes will come with one autograph card.
The base set is comprised of both veterans and rookies (including rookie cards of Kyle Schwarber & Miguel Sano) as well as 150 prospects that have both chrome and paper versions). Base card and paper prospect cards have seven levels of colored-border parallels. Chrome prospect cards have seven levels of Refractor parallels plus one-of-one printing plates and three levels of new Shimmer Variation Refractors.
Autographed versions of Chrome Prospect and Rookie cards will have on-card signatures. Prospect autos will have seven levels of numbered parallels, low-numbered Shimmer Variations Refractors and one-of-one printing plates. Rookie autographs will be on chrome cards with six levels of numbered parallels plus one-of-one printing plates.
The Bowman Scouts’ Top 100 insert set returns to rank the best prospects as determined by Bowman’s own scouting department. These come in three levels of numbered parallels (Gold, Orange #’d to 25 and SuperFractor #’d 1/1). Rookie Recollections recall the 1991 rookie class that included Chipper Jones, Jeff Bagwell, Luis Gonzales and Ivan Rodriguez. There are four levels of numbered parallels to chase for this insert set (same 3 as Top 100 plus Red #’d to 5). Look for autographed versions of cards from both sets.
New inserts in 2016 Bowman include International Ink which features the top prospects from around the world to sign with MLB clubs. Family Tree highlight famous fathers and sons to have played the game. Sophomore Standouts expands upon a popular set from last year. This will feature many of the players from the exciting 2015 rookie class, including Kris Bryant and Carlos Correa. This set four levels of numbered parallels (Blue, Orange #’d to 25, Red #’d to 5 and Metallic #’d 1/1) plus numbered autographed editions. Signed cards will feature on-card autos and two levels of parallels numbered to five or less.
Additional autograph content in 2016 Bowman include new Turn Two Autographs. These dual auto cards feature autographs from prospects of the same MLB franchise on each side of the card. Ultimate Autograph Book cards come with signatures from 24 different players. All-America Game autograph will be included as well.
