2015 Topps High Tek Baseball preview

Topps High Tek Baseball returned in 2014 with successful relaunch of the brand. High Tek cards printed on acetate stock with wild and colorful designs make their return this October for a 2015 edition. Boxes of 2015 Topps High Tek will come with one autograph and one parallel base card.

The fun of collecting High Tek is to find the many parallels and variations of a certain player or players. The regular base card (Pattern 1) has eight different levels of parallels: Purple Rainbow, Confetti Diffractor (#’d), Tidal Diffractor (#’d), Gold Rainbow (#’d), Clouds Diffractor (#’d to 25), Red Orbit Diffractor (#’d to 5), Black Rainbow (#’d 1/1) and Black Galactic Diffractor (#’d 1/1).

Pattern 1 base cards will also have pattern variations. New for this year are parallel versions of the base card pattern variations. These will be very hard to find with Red Orbit Diffractors numbered to only five and Black Galactic Diffractors being one-of-ones.

One of the other new features for 2015 High Tek are Bright Horizons Autographs. These cards feature a horizontal design with a foil city landscape in the background that relates to the player pictured. Cards will have on-card signatures. Look for the Red Orbit (#’d to 5) and Black Galactic (#’d 1/1) Diffractor parallels.

High Tek Autographs come with on-card signatures from MLB rookies, veterans and legends. There are five levels of numbered parallels plus one-of-one printing proofs.

DramaTEK Performers is another new insert set that is recreation of an insert set from 2000 Topps High Tek. Regular versions come numbered as well as Red Orbit (#’d to 5) and Black Galactic (#’d 1/1) Diffractor parallels. Ten players will have signed versions that are numbered to 25.

Low-Tek Diffractors inserts return from last year with 15 different players featured. Ten of those players will have autographed versions numbered to 25.

2015 Topps High Tek will also have buybacks of Diffractor parallels and inserts from 1998-2000 High Tek releases with on-card signatures.
