MVP Monday: Nicholas Goodrich

Do you have any hobbies? Rec leagues, art, music, etc.

I love to bowl and it’s 50/50 if I’ll do well but love it all the same! I am huge into ancient history and Colonial America Era (specifically cause I can go and visit sites like forts). Dinosaurs can’t get enough of them but that goes with ancient history. classical music, movie scores, rock, & 90’s musicbe cause that’s my time lol.

100% bumpers are used on your good days of bowling… 

What is your favorite movie & why? 

That’s a hard one since there are so many good ones! I would have to say ‘The Mask’ for many reasons! I watched it so much on VHS that we have to get another one. I would act out scenes and quote lines during regular conversions, for example: you see something you like I would say “Smoke’n’!” and the family would get a kick out of it. It was the start of comedy and comics for me .

This is so great! We would love to hear some of these more often around the office! 

What superpower would you want if you could choose your own?

Picking one is not simple, most people go with flight or invisibility. There are so many cool ones but at the end of the day I would go Nightcrawler w/teleportation

Okay… little bit of some nocturnal action! Sounds pretty fun but I am way more of a mind reader kind of person. Wishful thinking we have over here… 

Do you have any pets?

Unfortunately my wife and I do not have any pets at this moment. Plans are to change that!

Highly recommend dogs. 

What are your favorite sports teams?

Have to be honest…I don’t really watch sports, but I do have random teams I like – the Buccaneers, Capitals, and Cubs.

WHAT…. Speechless over here, not going to lie. 

Someone gives you an elephant. You can’t sell it or give it away. What do you do with the elephant?

Why would I give Henry or Claudia away?! If it wasn’t clear I would keep it and raise it.

Oh they have names! 

Are you a former/current athlete? What sports did you play? What was your favorite?

Played Football and Baseball. I killed it as a defensive lineman, a friend and I earned the nicknames A-Train (Austin was last name) and I was G-Train (for my last name). Baseball was probably my favorite cause it’s a sport where play time is almost guaranteed and I loved playing Shortstop & Catcher.

EVERYONE AT DAVE AND ADAMS… ALERT… NICK WILL NOW BE KNOWN AS G-TRAIN!! WE ARE NOT LIVING THIS DOWN. 

If you were an animal what would you be and why?

Bear I would go with I guess. They’re a respected animal in so many ways! Strength, speed, size, and ferocity and yet they can get gentle and aloof.

I think I have to agree with you on this one… great and smart choice!

What’s your favorite travel destination/vacation spot?

I love going to the Lake Champlain region! I have family there, the history is crazy full for Early America, and the scenery is out of this world.

Seems absolutely gorgeous! I love a history filled area. 

What 2 items would you want on you if you were stranded on a deserted island? (food and water covered)

An Axe and Rope. They both have multiple uses that could help me survive.

This question always makes me think of the show Survivor. These would be great tools! Use some bamboo and leaves for a shelter!

Is cereal soup? Why or why not?

No because a soups base is Broth, it is always a broth of something. Milk is a dairy product, though milk can be used in soups it is always made with a Broth of something.

What’s your favorite product that we sell?

Magic/Pokémon cards only cause I love opening packs. Also I play Pokémon video games so i know the  creatures and I play MTG with friends.

Good choice… everyone at DACW says different things which I think is pretty cool and special with our array of AWESOME PRODUCTS! 

Do you have any collections of your own?

I would say I just have a lot of comics. Nothing I would think is a collection yet. I am currently attempting to collect the Hellboy Universe in comics.

COOL BEANS! Love a solid comic collection. 

Tell me about your background with DA? What attracted you to work for us?

I am a Comic Book Processor for I love comics lol.  It was always a treat to go to the store for supplies or comics/cards. I was bored at my old job, so when I saw an opening I thought I would try. I did not expect to get it let alone be traveling to Cons for the company!!

Dreams do come true man… they do. Loving it! 

If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or back to the past and why?

Travel to the past and that is only because, as I stated above, I love history! To be able to chat with conquerors, leaders, composers, and philosophers. Would be a dream!

I truly think this response is awesome… the future is cool for a number of reasons but being able to speak to those you read so much about would be an honor and a dream!  

What makes you love your job?

Being able to touch all sorts of different comics from across different decades! It is a treat being able to handle the CGC slabbed comics and just being in awe when it is a character or series you like. Also a big reason I love my job is being able to talk to others and convey our love for comics whether it is at a Con or here in the office.
