Look What We Bought This Week (9/21/12)

As we get closer and closer to the Fall Classic, Bob has ramped up his buying of baseball cards.  This week Bob picked up a run of complete sets from 1969 through 1980.  These sets are loaded with rookie cards such as Reggie Jackson (’69), George Brett (’75), Robin Yount (’75), Gary Carter (’75), Eddie Murray (’78), Ozzie Smith (’79) and Rickey Henderson (’80) as well as Mickey Mantles last card (’69).  Here are scans of a couple of the sets:1969 Topps Baseball Set

Bob also picked up a 1961/62 Fleer PSA 8 Rookie Card of HOF’er Wilt Chamberlain to add to the vintage graded basketball section of our site.

Comic Book Buyer Will managed to top his purchases from last weeks Baltimore Comic-con by paying $45,000 for a large collection of Silver Age Comic books. Almost all of the books have a CGC grade of 9.0 or higher with the highlights including Batman #181 in a 9.6 that features the first appearance of Poison-Ivy, Green Lantern #40 in 9.8 and the Avengers #8 in a 9.6 which features the first appearance of the villainous Kang the Conqueror. These three books alone come to a staggering total of $11,000!
