What’s Up in the DACW Live Lounge – June 29th

What a week! Let’s kick off this edition with a recap of the very special appearance of DACW Live Breaks at the 2016 NHL Draft! So, as you may have heard the awesome folks over at Upper Deck invited me to break live at the NHL Draft! We were stationed right in the thick of the madness; in the interview room prospects, agents, media members, and team execs were bustling about as they made their way from place to place as we sat their ripping some Upper Deck Hockey products. It was pretty cool to see what goes on behind the scenes after players get their names called. Unfortunately my name wasn’t called but I did pull some absolute monsters while I was there! Of course the Connor magnets were working and I finally snagged a McDavid Authentic Rookie Relic /99 from 2015/16 Upper Deck Game Used Hockey. As well as this unbelievably cool Gretzky All-Star Game Dual Relic Auto from 14/15 Cup. Just a few highlights from four great breaks which were really fun to be a part of!

This week wasn’t all about the 2016 NHL Draft we also saw the release of the highly anticipated 2016 Panini Flawless Soccer. With the Copa America and the Euro tournaments raging on it was the perfect time to bust open some soccer cards and we were not at all disappointed. These cards are some of the best Flawless cards that Panini has produced (that’s saying something). Two big Pele autos, a Ronaldo auto and a few great looking 1/1s headlined the top pulls in our breaks. But I want to applaud the new “Studs” set as something that really impressed me. The “Studs” cards feature full spikes from the bottom of game-worn cleats from the best players in the world. Easily the coolest cards to debut this year makes you think what else they’ll put in cards going forward.

Lucas Giolito of the Washington Nationals is regarded as one of if not the top prospect in baseball and we were lucky enough to get this really cool looking 4/5 rookie auto from 2015 Bowman’s Best Baseball. He will be making his debut tonight (Tuesday) hopefully all goes well!

We started with hockey so let’s end it with hockey! Here are my favorite hits from the week a pair of Obsidian RPAs of Kuznetsov and Drouin from 2014/15 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection. These are extremely difficult to pull and getting two is quite the feat! I know Nic was ecstatic when I pulled them for him!
