What’s Up in the DACW Live Lounge – July 13th

I’m super excited to start out this week’s DACW Live Lounge entry with one of my favorite releases in any sport; 2016 Bowman Inception Baseball. Inception Baseball is continually one of the most popular products to open within the hobby. Collectors are big fans of the on-card autos and the very simple-straight forward design. This year however, we saw a bit of a curveball in the design of Inception with an out of this world background! I was absolutely floored with the design and couldn’t get enough of it! Our breakers agreed as we burned through 7 cases in the past few days with more on the way! No question the best hit of our haul was this fantastic Letterman Booklet auto of Washington’s Trea Turner. Numbered 2/2 its one of those cards you only see listed on eBay for the same price of a new car! We also snagged a couple Yoan Moncadas and a great Bowman throwback auto of Carlos Correa. I really can’t talk any more glowingly about a product than this. It also brings to mind that it’s kind of a bummer we won’t be able to see a football version this year either.  Either way I highly recommend jumping in a break of this, buying some boxes or picking up a few singles for your PC.

Another week, more breaks of 2015/16 SP Authentic Hockey which of course, meant more Connor McDavid Future Watch autos. These are dominating the Hockey market as much as his Young Guns card did when they came out. This is one of the extremely few times where a card with as high as print run that this features can demand such a premium price. If you haven’t checked out 2015/16 Upper SP Authentic Hockey I implore that you do!

It seems every time that I want to pull a certain card in a set Sean beats me too it. It just seems to be the case and my favorite hit of the week is unfortunately no different. This Cody Hodgson SP Authentic auto was the one card that I REALLY wanted to hit (besides all of the McDavids for you guys) out of this product. We all know that Cody Hodgson is a legend here in the Lounge and this is most likely his last live Sabres auto. It was an update card from 2013/14 SP Authentic that wasn’t inserted on release and falls about 1:3000 packs! So of course Sean pulls it and rubs it in my face, NO RESPECT I TELL YA! Either way it was cool that we were able to get one.
