Upper Deck Evolution allows collectors to trade digital collectibles for physical items

On Wednesday, Upper Deck unveiled its new marketplace for digital collectibles, Evolution.

If you purchase digital collectibles on Evolution, you can keep them on the platform and trade them for other Authentic Digital Collectibles.

Now UD says it’s creating an “industry-first trading experience,” allowing collectors to transfer digital collectibles to Upper Deck e-Pack, and trade for physical items like cards, coins, and memorabilia.

Evolution is launching with limited-edition Authentic Digital Collectibles throughout the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and it starts with 2015-16 Fleer Showcase preview packs.

Upper Deck says these are a sneak peek of three upcoming Fleer Showcase drops, boasting 25 top players from the original product.

Then there will be the release of 2022-23 Hockey Heroes, the first NHL and NHLPA-licensed weekly product on Evolution. Each week, 3,000 digital packs will highlight the likes of Connor McDavid, Alex Ovechkin, and Nathan MacKinnon.

“From e-Pack to Evolution, I couldn’t be prouder of the progress we’ve made, and to bring Authentic Digital Collectibles to Upper Deck’s product suite is an exciting accomplishment,” Upper Deck President Jason Masherah said. “As a collector myself, it’s truly thrilling to be at the forefront of this industry’s continued innovation.”

Evolution, what Upper Deck calls a safe and secure peer-to-peer platform, plans to expand product offerings throughout this year.
