MVP Monday: Maddie Elia

MVP Monday is back as we all get fired up for the Holiday season! Every Monday we highlight a Dave and Adam’s employee who’s been really kicking butt to keep this ship at full speed. As you can imagine, the Holiday season is very busy for us, so it’s all hands on deck. Our MVP this week has been slinging hot deals your way in the midst of all this chaos. Meet our Social Media Director, Maddie Elia! Being a former hockey stud throughout her life, it would be wise to stay out of Maddie’s way when she looks to accomplish something. As always, we sit down to talk and learn more about our MVP!

-What are you hoping for for Christmas?

I’m not really sure. I love giving gifts WAY more than I enjoy receiving them. I actually feel like stocking presents are super underrated though.

That’s funny Maddie; we have some nice stocking stuffers right here at Dave and Adam’s. 😉

– What are your interests outside of work?

I used to play hockey, so I guess that is my interest! I help out with the Sabre’s Learn to Play Program during the winter, which is a program that teaches 4-8 year olds how to skate and the basics of hockey. The kids are super cute and funny, so I really enjoy doing it. It also keeps me somewhat involved in hockey, otherwise I think I’d miss it alot more. I also enjoy going to concerts with my family. My dad is a HUGE concert guy so I usually try to go to as many concerts as I can with him.

We love that you teach your passion to the youth! Just like Maddie, a lot of our employees are very involved with different programs in the Western New York area!

– Do you have any hobbies?

I want to take piano lessons again. I used to take them when I was younger, but I remember how to play one song: the ice cream truck song. So I definitely need to amp my skills again.

Don’t sell yourself short, Maddie! You’ll be the next Beethoven in no time! However, the ice cream truck song is a classic. Maybe you can play it at the Christmas party?

– What’s your favorite product that we sell?

Any product that has kabooms for any sport. I honestly think they are the coolest, most unique cards ever. I joke that I want to blow one up and make it into a massive piece of art and hang it in my house.

– Do you have any collections of your own?

My nickname is madfrog, so growing up I used to collect frogs. My mom had someone come in and paint my bathroom as like a pond scene with tons of frogs. As I got older the frog bathroom got a little weird.

Hmmmm, that must explain why you’re so jumpy?

– What’s an interesting fact about you?

My family and I auditioned for Family Feud during the pandemic and we actually got selected, but the timing never worked out so we never physically got to go on the show.

Wish we could have seen it! A family of Hockey fanatics vs. Steve Harvey? He better watch his tone with you guys!

– Do you have any pets?

Wow, this question was made for me. I have a 2 year old goldendoodle, Belle, who I am obsessed with. She is pretty funny, but also loves to steal food off the table. Last Christmas, I walked into the kitchen and she had a full lobster tail in her mouth.

– All time favorite movie?

This is a tough one. I think Wedding Crashers.

“MAAA! THE MEATLOAF!”

-Tell me about your background with DA/HP?

I started as the social media director back in May and have been here ever since.

And let us just say this: Maddie is the GOAT social media director and we wouldn’t want anyone else.

-What was your career before DA/HP?

I had a few random jobs here and there. My most recent job before this I was the media account coordinator at a marketing and advertising agency in Buffalo called Gelia. Before that I played professional hockey, so I guess that was my job?

Oh yeah, no big deal. Just used to play professional hockey. Nothing to see here.

-What attracted you to work for DA/HP?

I love sports and social media, so I thought it was a good fit for me.

-What has been your biggest challenge here, and what did you do to solve it on your own?

I think just getting into the rhythm of coming into the office after I had adjusted to work from home life. Sticking to a consistent schedule definitely helped.

-What inspires you to be the best at your job?

I’m a very competitive and driven person, so I always want to put out my best work.

And it shows! Maddie brings her competitive attitude to work every day to ensure everything is in tip top shape. Like many others in the company, Maddie is a perfectionist who will always put her best foot forward. We appreciate you and everything you do!

Thank you once again for joining us for our MVP Monday employee spotlight! Catch you bright and early next week!
