Capturing the San Diego Chicken

2016 Donruss Baseball features the first ever autograph and relic cards of the world famous mascot, the San Diego Chicken. Relic cards will feature piece of an actual Chicken costume given to Panini by the mascot’s creator and performer, Ted Giannoulas. Giannoulas also signed cards for 2016 Donruss.

San Diego Chicken relic cards features swatches from three different parts of the chicken costune:

·         Chicken Suit (Orange Fur #’d/82 and Prime Blue/Yellow Fur #’d/10) on his non-autographed cards

·         Tights (Yellow) on his autographed #’d/82 cards

·         Vest Prime (Logo on the Blue Vest) on his autographed #’d/10 cards

Panini recently produced a video about how the San Diego Chicken costume made it’s way into their trading cards. The video features an appearance by the real San Diego Chicken.

2016 Donruss Baseball pays tribute to the 1982 Donruss Baseball set with inserts using the same design from 1982, which is also the year the San Diego Chicken made its debut (or should we say hatched?).
