2014 Topps Chrome Football preview

2014 Topps Chrome Football is set to release later this month as the NFL’s best and brightest get the traditional Topps Chrome and Refractor treatment. Boxes of Topps Chrome Football will contain one autograph card from this season’s rookie class. Special note: All images are pre-production samples, all rookie cards will feature images of players wearing NFL uniforms

The base card set has 220 cards, which is split evenly between rookies and veterans. Rookie cards fall one per pack. There are also 25 rookies and 30 veterans also have variations of their base card available. Collectors can chase 11 different levels of Refractor parallels plus hobby exclusive printing plates.

Topps Chrome Football offers plenty of chances to find rookie autograph cards with on-card signatures. Rookie auto parallels include: Refractor (#’d to 150), STS Refractor (#’d to 99), BCA Refractor  (#’d to 75), Black Refractor (#’d to 25), Pulsar Refractor (#’d to 15), Gold Refractor (#’d to 10), Red Refractor (hobby exclusive #’d to 5) and SuperFractor (hobby exclusive #’d 1/1). Hobby exclusive Rookie auto variations come numbered to 75. Hobby boxes also exclusively hold Rookie Auto Patch cards that are numbered to 50. Look for Dual (#’d to 30) and Triple (#’d to 15) Rookie Autos as well.

Veteran players have autographed variations of their base cards but come limited to just ten.

2014 Topps Chrome Football features several retro-themed insert sets. 1963 Topps Mini cards can be found 1:12 packs, 1985 Topps Football 1:6 packs and 1965 Topps Football 1:24 packs. Look for Refractor parallels of these retro cards, including hobby exclusive one-of-one SuperFractors. 1963 mini and 1985 retro cards also have autograph parallels numbered to 15.

Other insert cards include Fantasy Focus (1:12 packs) which has Refractor (#’d to 99) and SuperFractor parallels (#’d 1/1, hobby exclusive). Chrome Rookie Die-Cuts fall one per box with three levels of parallels plus Refractor autographs (#’d to 15). 1,000 Yard Club and 4,000 Yard Club inserts highlight players that achieved yardage milestones last season. These cards get the Refractor treatment plus have three levels of parallels: Red Refractor (#’d to 99, autographed versions come sequentially #’d ), Blue Wave Refractor (#’d to 25), SuperFractor (hobby exclusive #’d 1/1).

Hobby boxes contain 24 packs with four cards per pack.
