Chapman defected from Cuba in the summer of 2009, and signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Reds on January 10th, 2010.
Chapman made his much anticipated major league debut on August 31st, 2010 just in time to help the Reds on their run to the playoffs.
He recorded his 1st MLB victory the next night against the Milwaukee Brewers.
On September 24th, 2010 against the San Diego Padres, Chapman was clocked at 105.1 mph, according to pitch f/x, which makes it the fastest pitch ever recorded in Major League Baseball.
